A school on 10th Avenue since the fall of 1961
St. Paul Lutheran School was established in the fall of 1961 to provide Christian education for members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and for the community.
Home of the St. Paul Crusaders
St. Paul is accredited by the National Lutheran School Association and has full recognition status from the Illinois State Board of Education.
The school is part of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Read more at belief and practice.
About 40% of the students are members of the congregation. Another 55% are members of other area Christian churches, and 5% do not belong to a church.
A short history
The congregation and the school share one story. The school on this campus opened in the fall of 1961.
The congregation opened a first school. It lasted 12 years.
The church moved to its present site on 10th Avenue.
The new school opened. The school was established in 1961.
The congregation began broadcasting Sunday services on WRHL.
The congregation began “Forward by Grace,” a capital improvement fund.
An expansion of the church and school opened.
Rev. Michael Gudgel has served the congregation since 2025.
